I forgot about #98. When someone comes to you with a problem you say…”I know how you feel, I felt the same way, but when I __________ this is what I found………….” Another manipulation tactic they teach you to get you on their side of the table. Let me tell you I could tell Ice to an eskimo with the techniques I learned from the TEAM.
They also talk in third person ie: “Leaders….._______________________.”
It is the pressure to perform my friends. TEAM should be called a high performance cult. You are only valued by how much work you do, and not for who you are.

Here is an explanation from the Cultwatch website on what this language meaning and purpose is and it is called Loaded Language!
Loaded Language
The cult will have their own language and terms. These prevent people outside the group being able to engage in “dangerous” conversations with members and it gives the members a sense of belonging. It also allows a phenomenon known as thought stopping where a simple word can stop any thoughts in the member’s mind which are against the cult.
Harmless by itself, “loaded language” is used in all areas of life from the computer industry to orthodox Christianity. Every group or specialist field develops its own words or meanings for words, and this is often called “jargon.” However, when mixed in with the other Mind Control tools, “loaded language” can take on a threatening attribute which is unbiblical. For example, in the International Church of Christ cult “loaded language” is used throughout the world – a typical conversation might go like this…
“The Bible says that we are saved by grace, not by works. You are telling me that I must get people baptised or I’m not a real Christian,” says the Disciple.

Here is some more infomation from another website; on how cults work (that is the name of website), describing what a ‘Commercial cult’ is. This you could say is extremely enlightening and in my opinion would be putting it mildly.

Often they will hold up their leader as an example and explain that if you do what he or she says then you will be successful too. I believe this brief explanation and example are very interesting and telling to say the least. This has become a very fascinating and disturbing subject for me to learn as much as I can about. Go figure.There is a glore of information on the web, and many books that will be invaluable to me I am sure. I have said I am going to blog on this and still plan to do so. I am and will continue to learn in this subject and then I will pay-it-forward!

Saying that they have to make people pay for it because otherwise they will not appreciate it. This is of course a very silly reason, plenty of people are able to appreciate things which they did not pay for.
Make sure you charge at least $100 a pop for those coffee mugs. You can get a few people to sell them for you and give them a commission (if they go on coffee mug auto-ship). Of course you’ll have to provide motivatiational training at a nominal fee so that they can get the most of the coffee mug business opportunity. Then they can each tell a few friends and…oh my!

I remember way back in Amway there was obviously a problem happening through out, because they brought in someone I believe it was from the Amway Corp. and SOLD these little tax booklets, to thousands that basically would help you not raise the red flags, it showed you where to put certain expenses, under what catagories. That was the 1 and only time!
This is not my thing,( I bet you couldn’t tell, LOL), it always stressed me out, because there were so many freaking reciepts. It usually took days because I would avoid it til the last minute.
We have always had a CPA do ours. And have had to pay in many thousands most of the years we were involved, even though we didn’t make squat in comparison to the expenses.
You were always so busy building most never even realized how much money they lost, believe it or not, lol not even us!

As a taxpayer, that REALLY galls me. In essence, I (and other taxpayers) are paying to subsidize Orrin’s profits on the tools scam. My guess is that the vast majority of deductions that distributors are taking are illegitimate and would not stand up to an IRS audit. The fruad involved could be in the millions of dollars. Someone really should file a whistleblower report with the IRS (and collect a nice fat reward in the process).

According to the Forbes Article 42 million in one year they raked in, of course Orrin said that wasn’t all profit. That was the first time anyone had heard any figure given on what the Team raked in, EVER! We had to read it in that article. He didn’t want people knowing, obviously! I heard he was livid about that Article for a number of reasons, I am sure!
I would be very reluctant to take any of their revenue claims seriously without an independent audit. It behooves them to exaggerate their claims about revenue to impress the public, but I bet the numbers that Orrin and Monavie are submitting to the IRS tell a very different (and far less boastful) story.
BTW when was the last time you heard Dallin Larsen peddle his BS about Monavie being “bigger than Microsoft” (incidentally, this was the same claim Larsen had made about Royal Tongan Limu just before the Feds kicked in Dynamic Essentials’ doors and later destroyed millions of dollars worth of RTL juice and sales brochures in a landfill pit)? We were sincerely in shock and outraged, so we only spent a very short time around MV and that was only because we had thousands and thousands of people we felt responsible for, to help. I cannot stress this enough but being out of the indoctrination ‘system’ and not listening to their BS is what finally gets you to the point where you really can see who they are and what they really did and their motives behind it all. At first we thought Dallin was all about the distributors, we then found out different. And what we’ve seen to date is Orrin has slid (the snake he is)into Dallin’s life and now in my opinion Dallin has taken on the same beliefs, he is quoting,& promoting & reading books Orrin promotes (outliers is one), and is turning his buisness in to a copy cat of Amway and Orrin’s practices. There is no way in hell,and with the knowledge we have now would ever build that MLM or any other! The destruction they have caused and the proof of most (95-99%)in MV & Orrin’s system, that will never make more than their expenses is appalling and call us stupid, dumb,and ignorant but we honestly never stopped long enough to see this or study the real numbers. I will say this their was about a 2 1/2 yr time frame where we could with certainty (even though we never had the exact formula) tell others that they would make this much if you built it to let’s say turbo or triple 100, because we could prove it with our income and others on our team. That is when we grew the fastest and were making OFF THE SYSTEM more money than the ‘business.’We believed and helped others get to that so they would make that amount of money. I am so sorry for all of this, it really is heart wrenching and devastating. Obviously knowing what we know now we would have NEVER brought 1 single person into something to hurt them. This is a horrible regret.

It was a great book by a brilliant writer and it pains me to hear those clueless Monavie predators misquoting and mangling it to suit their purposes. I watched a video of Steve Merrit talking about the book in one of his pitch meetings. It was like a watching a caveman trying to explain calculus. When he described the book, he got both the title (“Outliners”) AND the author’s name (Goodwin instead of Gladwell) wrong. It seemed obvious to me that he hadn’t even read the book, or if he had, he was far too dense to understand even the most basic parts.
The ONLY reason they talk about Outliers at all is because of the part in the book where Gladwell mentioned that it takes roughly 10,000 hours of intensive practice to become an expert at something (examples Gladwell used included things like being a concert violinist, a pro hockey player, a Bill Gates level software developer, etc.).
The Monavie retards twist this concept to sell distributors on the idea that they need to of commit 10,000 hours to the business (of buying CDs and seminar tickets and worthless juice). It truly makes me sick.
Any distributor who squanders away 10,000 hours trying to build a Monavie “business” is a sad case indeed. Just think of all the productive things they could have done with that time (like becomeing a concert violinist or a pro level athlete or world class software innovator)
Steve Merrit and Dallin Larceny deserve to be beat over the head with Outliers. Seriously.
Techinically, those deductions would only apply if (a) the business was more than just a hobby business and (b) if the events provide legitimate training. Both of those conditions would be strained in Monavie’s case.
Most distributors fail to earn significant revenue, some year after year. When there is no legitimate expectation of profit, then the entity qualifies as nothing more than a hobby business, and deductions would not be allowable in that case.
Using the term “sales training” to describe what the pins provide is laughable. If anything, a distributor’s business will be even less profitable as a result.
Like I said before, it sickens me to think that taxpayers subsidize the evil $hit that guys like Orrin Woodwart, Brig Hartless, and Dallin Larceny are perpetrating.

That is without any special meetings, house meetings or showing the plan,phone calls, time spent on taxes & paper work, doing tools for our group, traveling, eating out, nota, just the 3 required meetings!~Add that up! And what did we get? Undue Influence, indoctrinated/brainwashed, with a bunch of quotes, our profit-sharing and teams divided, destructed and stolen, countless hours of lost time away from our children, family, and some true friends~cannot be measured! All that money we could have used for our childrens education or just a new pair of shoes, or a vacation, or just money in the bank or created a real business, or just gave away to your charity of choice, not theirs! Undue stress that caused some health issues~there is no price! Told you how to dress, what to say, when to have a date with your spouse, how much time and what you need to listen to (cd’s), read, and attend!

You nailed it Aurora! The 10,000-hour commitment is equivalent to a full time job for 5 years or a part-time job for a lot longer than that. Not to mention that even after investing 10,000 hours there is little likelihood of acquiring expertise in anything (except failure in most cases).
Ultimately the 5 year plan is not about developing expertise (after all, how many ways are there to sell fruit punch?); it is about developing a downline, and a downline is fleeting and unstable — it cannot be guaranteed to last.
Spend 10,000 hours in college or learning a trade and you’ll walk out with a pretty good likelihood of snagging a 100K+ job.
You know what you call someone who invests 10,000 hours of time in one specialized area of endeavor? DOCTOR!!!

To all of my fellow bloggers:
I want to tell you all that I am so sorry for all your pain. I read all the blogs and it brings back all kinds of memories that are really very unpleasant. We knew that something was wrong at the second funtion we went to after the move to Monavie. We really were questioning behavior and statements from the “leaders”, Orrin, Chris, Tim and George. We struggled somewhat when discussing to “quit” or not. The struggle was due to the 10 years we were in, all the miles, all the money spent on tools, funcions, eating out, all the sleepless nights, and most of all, the time away from our kids! We also would be walking away from our profit sharing with Team. In the end, we didn’t want to be associated with manipulators and liars.
The good news is that when we let go, our life was so much better! It was like getting rid of toxins in your body! We were debt free and we could be free to do what WE wanted to do. We actually had so much more money after we quit, it was weird! We know now that God was doing everything except knocking us over the head, to show us that this “business” was wrong.
It took awhile for us to stop beating ourselves up over all the wasted time away from kids, family and friends and for all the money flushed down the toliet. One day we sat and talked with our kids about the entire experience and they were the ones that helped us feel better about the entire thing. They were happy we tried and that they had the example of giving something our all. They are great kids and our relationship with them is solid and strong. Praise the Lord!!
I do have to admit that we are greatful for portions of the business. We were directed to read some great books that helped us make our marriage better and stronger, made our relationship with our kids stronger, increased our faith, and overall better people in society. I believe everything happens for a reason and that God brought us to the “business” to be able to do the above.
I will be forever sorry that we brought people into this thing, and I ask God daily to direct those people to him and away from this “cult”.
To the people on this blog that are still with Team. Please read all the entries on this blog to learn from all of our mistakes. There are too many of us that have the same stories and experiences.
Aren’t you wondering why some of the biggest leaders left? What about the fact that Pastor Dickie left as well as his kids that were involved in the behind the scenes of running Team? When we read about some of the big name leaders leaving it made us question the lack of integrity of the Team. But, when Pastor and his kids left, and the fact that Orrin no longer belongs to his church, it solidified it for us! Pastor and Orrin were very close for many years, so it is obvious to us that there is unethical behavior happening. Please beware!

Sorry to rain on your parade but the man you worship (idol) is a mis-leader and where is he standing? Because that is exactly what is happening to what he claims is his business foundation (he likes to take the credit for all the work)~it is a self-fulling prophecy that he is watching right before his own eyes. He is on a sinking ship and you are going down with them. Take a look at your business. I can tell you when 2-3 people out of over 1300 (and not even weekly or consistantly) are making a pittance, then what do you think is in it for you? What are your odds of ever even breaking even? You really should take those blinders off and See for yourself. Tell us what or how many in your buisness if any are making anything. Truth as Vogel points out is absolute. Give your head a shake, think for yourself. I am not trying to be mean just truthful to save you years of losses and not just that almighty dollar your chasing, you will lose far more valuable things that you will have to live with. You nailed it on a different comment you made. According to Kiyosaki, a ‘b’ type business owner owns a system. Being a part of Team means that you are basically a rep for the Team system. That is one of the main points that I try to get across on this blog. The other, of course, is that at some point a business has to operate with a profit and 99% of Team-sters never have a positive cash flow. Again, I just feel that it is criminal to keep selling people on freedom when mere profitability is so rare on Team.

This one just stumps me; when the defenders slither in and out like they are afraid their upline is going to catch them reading or writing on here and don’t bother to come back, and then others keep coming back to try and ‘convince’ us to change our minds or at least not be so disturbed about our experiences then try and change our believes on our experiences?

The real question is WHY would they even waist their time or want to try and ‘convince’ us? Reputation hmm……..they really aren’t about that.. Are they?

Not that I have anything against motivational speakers, Les Brown was one of the best, in my opinion. It’s great for entertainment and a temporary fix but it does not last. Ever wonder why your “fired-up, then depressed, then fired-up then depressed building the business?”
First off because the business is flawed and you have to expend every ounce of energy just to try and put people in faster than they quit!~
Next they make it more complex than it really is so they always leave you hanging, thinking you haven’t learned that last little secret to make your business explode! They will lead you to believe that last little secret is at the next seminar or major til eternity, if you let them.
Then you realize you ain’t makin a dime and spending your bill money? And you keep wondering when that ‘one guy’ you know that has a names list of 1000 people will show up? That can be discouraging, can’t it?
Seriously, how much training and secrets DO YOU NEED to sell juice?
Oh you say you aren’t in the juice selling business, you are in the leadership developement business, ok go read the FTC guide lines and get yourself up to speed on the pyramid laws, that could be some good leadership education that you might want to pass downline, just a suggestion. Your business future; ‘dreams’, could depend on it! But I’m confused, I thought I was only going to get paid off my juice? Ask your upline about the “system money” and I’ll pray you get an honest answer!
Lastly, if you have to force motivation on yourself with 3-4 cds daily and 4 books per month, to keep you in the know, and to keep yourself motivated then just maybe you are trying to hard to motivate yourself for something you truly do not desire?
Oh yea, I hear ya, there is ‘how to cd’s’ and it takes a life time to learn basic leadership principles to sell juice. Do you find that funny? Well, let me give you a clue~ BE HONEST & NICE TO PEOPLE, and stay Within the LAW, you’ll sell way more juice (well, with a whole lot of luck at the price) but it will be way better than a thousands cd’s, books, & meetings would ever teach you and a whole lot cheaper.
I know it is genius! I can’t believe it is seems so complex, but I know you can do it!
You’d be surprised at how much more money we have now that we aren’t paying out the nose for motivation & those “secret” techniques, and we actually have time to do what we love you do, it really is amazing! You really ought to try it for 6 months to a year!
I find it histerical now I really don’t need 3-4 cds per day to spend time with my family or anything else I truly desire, the motivation comes naturally! Funny how that works and is WAY cheeper too!

Funny, the best thing I learned was from the book, How I raised myself from failure to Success in Selling….. Yep a $13 dollar book, I only needed to buy once! I bought into the lie, I needed to go to the next thing, for years so that I might find out the one secret I must be missing. The secret is you need to give up your life for years to build the TEAM, because it will not sustain itself. Also your upline can wreck it anyday and you don’t own it, Orrin does. That is the secret. They can take it all whenever they want! Listen to 4 cd’s a day to brainwash yourself to not look at the facts of your loss of time and money. It takes years to build Team and only a handful out of thousands, make a profit after expenses. Yep that is the secret. It is a big gamble and then it can be taken. Who in their right mind would spend their time and money knowing that? Oh that’s right we didn’t know all that!!! We were lied to for years!

Everything we spend money on is going to have to be critical – not lame-ass major functions where the the only thing you do is cheer/scream/do the wave/faint/get the vapors, and other function-appropriate behaviour for your very hard earned money. Really? Is that how you want to spend it? Can’t eat a function when you are hungry, can you?
We are stockpiling non-perishables, batteries, first-aid supplies, water-purifying tablets, etc. Meanwhile, amway/team/wwdb/bww idiots will be boiling up their function tickets for dinner. mmmmmmmmmmm………tasty!

Great points! The ‘recession proof business’ forgot about that worn out, untrue statement! I think you nailed that one! Who is going to spend $500 per month on product & ‘system?’(indoctrination). I would think this would be a no brainer but we know they aren’t allowed to think for themselves, so they would have to check up line whether they should buy groceries or cds, books, & functions hmm…. that would be a tough decision, hope their upline is a good life-coach and has the right answer for them! Who knows maybe those function tickets are like scratch and sniff, appetite curbing and wala you are no longer hungry since they are always on the ‘cutting edge’and ‘world class’……
To add insult to injury they have some people on double system! A family just came to mind; they have a mentally challenged child who lives at home whom is over 18 and they have 2 full systems counts for that one family!!! This family will never build the buisness and they know it, they are there to belong and for the social aspect!
This is criminal to me and is one of the worst injustices, that they would take advantage of anyone like this all so they can add an extra system to their profit-sharing! This is just 1 case, I know of another that the family couldn’t afford their heat and lost their home but never got off system!
I can’t wait for these people to get what they give out!! Greedy bee as turds!

NOT TRUE, it turns into slavery! The entire time draining you of every last dollar on their ‘training system’!
It controls all your time 24/7 nonstop thinking, planning, attending all seminars, speaking, listening to cd’s, reading books, making calls, STP, building relationships with team members ONLY, special meetings Volume parties, power player parties until it totally consumes your every waking moment!
The time we spent on what it takes to build it to a level of ‘retirement’ and cash flow to keep your business building would shock you, then to have it all stolen! It takes years to build a team to the size you will be able to be free from your Job & Boss,(you can’t just build it to your current income) and if you ever fall into the mere 1-5% that ever reaches that, you won’t even be close to being financially free! Not everyone on stage is making that money!
There is no ‘magic’, there are no ‘secrets’, just a lot of lost time, money, and energy,& friendships~ because you Do Not Own or Control your business, doesn’t matter how many times they repeat their rhetoric. Orrin Woodward owns and controls the Team! Dallin Larsen owns MV! Is there not a voting by peers now for the Team? Ask about it; that means after all your effort for the year or years to come could be taken away with a mere vote? (maybe someone won’t vote because they need a pay raise?) Guess what then all the people you brought in, too bad for you someone else gets paid for them, they are not your team anymore! Orrin dictates whether you get paid and can steal it anytime he chooses, like he did to us and others. They base it on conformity & loyalty!
The fatal lies that will trap you are “the 2-5 year program” and “you will achieve all your dreams and goals” “you only have one decision to make and that is Never Quit.” By the time you reach the 2-5 yr mark and you still haven’t achieved that level of success or if you have, you cannot stop building, your business does not build on it’s own don’t care how many ‘leaders you have,’ just check the ‘Diamonds schedules! It is called attrition or ‘backwards growth’ be honest with yourself, just check out your own team! You will be TRAPPED by guilt by bringing in others and brainwashed and you will feel like you can’t quit because you have spent WAY TOO MUCH MONEY and feel you need to recoup it!

If you do manage to get them on the phone, you have to use all your best skills of pursuasion to actually get them to agree to meet. (crossing your fingers praying they show up)
You get to the coffee place and wait for an hour. You’re just sure they were caught up in traffic, or their house is on fire, or one of their kids just hacked into the Pentagon, or they are on the Mayan calendar and have a different date marked down, or their Special-ops unit just got called back to Kuait, or today is the day they train Orcas, or what-the-hell-ever. It simply CANNOT be that they know this is a con and they’d rather have a root canal without anesthesia than join amway!!

You gather up your STP materials including brief case, yellow pad, and red pen (the weapons of warriors, right?). You get out of the car and try not too look too asonished that 1.) they are actually home, and 2.) they haven’t sic(ed) the dogs on you yet.
Take a deep breath and straighten your clothes. Gads, I hope my teeth are clean. Why didn’t I check my teeth before getting out of the car?. Oh, well, I’ll just double up on Sweet Shot. Remember that crap? It was a cross between Pine Sol and Red Wine Vinegar.
Ring doorbell and wait. And wait. And wait. Ring again. You just know you heard muffled voices coming from inside, and dang it, there’s that kid again looking at me thru the window. Oops, someone just yanked him back. Silence.

How in the world do you recover? This kind of crap happens a LOT when trying to prospect and build your business.

Oh my goodness, I forgot about that!! “Don’t pre-judge!” My upline did tell me one time that she thought about my husband going “into the business” then she thought “Nah, he won’t be interested” then she said she reminded herself not to pre-judge. And there she got me! LOL Anyway she told me what was going through my head when I mentioned one person on my contact list, but I know their personality, and they wouldn’t pay that much for juice.

Whatever stress you deal with on a daily basis at your JOB is nothing in comparison to what you put up with to build amway. You get more and more desparate as time goes on, and it astonishes you what you will do and say and forsake trying to ‘git ‘er done.’
There is not an mlm on the planet that doesn’t rely totally on recruiting. They cannot deny it. Whatever product/products they sell is simply the hook.
