System Shock

August 26, 2011

Orrin Woodward’s latest post on LIFE TEAM Systems Thinking talks about the importance of the training and leadership System. He explains his belief that the LIFE system will “help more people than ever accomplish their dreams.”

Most people got into bed with Orrin Woodward and Amway in the 1990s and 2000s to make money. Many people left Amway with Orrin to go to MonaVie in 2008 to make money. Still more people will side with Orrin Woodward and his new LIFE business to make money and achieve their dreams.

At the end of the day, TEAM members have to ask themselves one basic question, “Have I achieved my primary objective of making money in this business?”

A popular TEAM phrase being bandied around these days is, “People get in to make money. They stay in to get right.” This TEAM LIFE’s bait and switch tactic. Watch Orrin perform it from a seminar:

I wrote more about this in a blog post two years ago.

team-whole-picture

Can one improve spiritually outside of TEAM LIFE? Yes. Go to church.

Can one have a social life outside of TEAM LIFE? Yes. Have fun with friends. Join a social club.

Can one grow politically outside of TEAM LIFE? Yes. Get active politically.

Can one grow mentally and emotionally outside of TEAM LIFE? Yes. Read books from the library.

Can one make money outside of TEAM LIFE? Yes. Start a conventional business, turn a hobby into a business, learn some new skills, learn how to invest, or get a better job.

Most people had lives outside of TEAM before joining. They joined in order to make money. Over time, TEAM took over the rest of their lives. And though they are still losing money in this business venture, they are made to feel good about it because of the other purported benefits they are receiving.

Like I said, bait and switch.

And I’ll repeat the question once more to current TEAM LIFE members. Are you making money in this business after expenses? The answer is either yes or no, with no buts in-between. “No, but I’m a better person today because of TEAM LIFE,” is not a valid answer. Are you making money in this business after expenses? Yes or No?

And I’ll ask Orrin this question, though I doubt we’ll get a response: How many people in TEAM have achieved job optional status from being a part of TEAM?

I remember my upline saying how important it is to change our way of thinking. That we need to leave the old way of thinking and learn the “valuable truths” that TEAM teaches that aren’t taught in university. Scary stuff. Yet it’s so subtle that you don’t even realise it until it’s too late.

  2. August 26, 2011 6:47 pm

Oh…and I don’t believe for one millisecond that there was a multi-millionaire in that audience who’s not making money in TEAM but just there for the leadership training. That’s pure rubbish.

Apparently in the life business you can make money in your first team when it launches… I really haven’t changed my way of thinking that much I simply observe; I am free to do what i want when I hear something or read something, It doesn’t mean i will accept it or not accept it…..so its all learning for me in this blog and in team, so I can get both stories……. Thanks for your patience…

@Amthrax – You already know the answer to the question…. and it’s NO. However, you will hear the same tired excuses “I’m heading in the right direction”, “I’m a better person”, and my personal favourite… “I didn’t make money in my first couple years of college either”! I read Orrin’s article, and it’s the same circle talking, “big picture”, “change the world”, kind of stuff. Great Orrin… Monavie paid you a $300,000 bonus….good for YOU. How’s your Team doing? The fact of the matter is that they are not doing so well there are they? Why else would you need your new LIFE business? Also… I love how you had to convince your 18 year old son to become an “entrepreneur”! After living with you for 18 years and living “The Dream” everyday you would think it should be a no brainer right? Nope….he almost ruined his life by going on to further his education at school! Wow….close one Orrin! That would have looked really bad……but he can quit right? If he doesn’t like the CD’s? If he doesn’t like the books? Because it’s all optional ….but so is success isn’t it? Quick question… why couldn’t he just read the Thousands of books you must have by now? What about the towering pile of CD’s you must have in you’re own house (your ON system right Orrin)? Couldn’t your son just use those? NOPE… that’s not “Duplicatable” is it? Nope…. no special deals! Everybody PAYS!!! And boy oh boy……will you pay!

@mlmpunisher – Regarding college and Orrin’s son, I wrote this post about College and a TEAM Education back in May, 2011. I guess he made his decision to build the business for at least a year… if that doesn’t work out, it’s off to college, right?

At the end of the day, your relationship with your up line is not as pure, strong, real, and honest as you think it is… it’s simply a means to the end. To make money and win no matter who comes -goes, succeeds-fails, goes into debt or becomes sick, it’s a business of getting to the next level with a unconscious concern for who gets hurt. Recognition on stage is what it’s all about. This business is built on FALSE HOPE. The person sitting in the audience can achieve the next level too… but they don’t realize how many tens of thousands of dollars “leaders” invest, and they don’t realize how many tens of thousands of dollars in debt that leader is. When ONE leader achieves RT… this is what holds in thousands of people. Not because they are on the RTs team, but because they say, I can do the same. There was a couple in my upline named Mike + Natalie Richard from New Brunswick which achieved Emerald in Monavie. No one knew what they sacrificed to achieve this goal, how any years they built this business, how many hours, long days, nights, how much they financially invested in money and precious time Mike spent away from his family and small children. Time he’ll never ever get back. This couple realized that they were getting nowhere-fast, but the rest of the people in my group thought they made it. The Team thought this couple was making hundreds of thousands of dollars and starting to live the good life. This couple was Claude + Lana’s largest leaders and they resigned. They walked away and earned not a penny of residual income. The TRUTH is… some of these other leaders spent 5-15 years in this “system” and have NO CLUE how to run a real business. A real business person looks at a business from a NON-EMOTIONAL stance, and assesses if the business is profitable or NOT. It’s very simple. If after 5, 10, or even 15 YEARS… if you are not financially further ahead… STOP… nothing is going to change. On TEAM it’s called “quitting”, they make you feel like a ‘loser’… but the TRUTH is it’s called allocating your LIMITED resources (time and money) in a “smarter” more productive way. This video sums up the ENTIRE experience…

Barb….were you in Mike & Nat’s group? I wasn’t in their group but I live in the same are as they do and their leaving was one of the things that really got to me. I just couldn’t take how one week they were up on stage as Monavie Emerald Executives and the next week they were no where to be found….and guess what? Not a single mention of where they went or why. It was like they never existed. And if you did dare to ask – which I did – they just made up some excuse that they gave up on their dreams. 🙂 That opened up my eyes to the fact that they don’t really care about “people” like they claim they do….they just care about keeping the facade going and ignoring anything negative that ever happens. Those new people who came for the first time the week after Mike & Nat left will never know who they were….unless we tell them! 😉

It’s like you’ve landed in a big pile of TRUTH here and now, slowly but surely, you’re realizing it but don’t want to realize it……you go from pretty much going “all in” to now “observing on the team” and now learning from this blog but still love to point the fingers at the people that have been robbed and taken to the bank.

Let me know when you realize that team is on it’s 3rd round of “revamping” their system and package design and pretty much LYING to EVERYONE they’ve come in contact with what they’ve really been involved in which has pretty much been a FINANCIAL DISASTER.

  14. August 28, 2011 7:20 pm

Switch is right, Lyk, I left TEAM not by my own choice but because all of my credit was used up. Sometimes I wonder if I didn’t have anxiety disorder, or wasn’t afraid of talking on the telephone, I might have made it. But looking at the bigger picture, all these meetings (seminars and major functions) were really to sell tools – those CDs and books. The speakers were telling us to buy this and that CD or book. It’s like being in intense training to change from our old way of thinking to a “new perspective” – if we kept our old way of thinking we’d take a hard look at TEAM and write it off as scam from the get-go. Lyk, this is no word of a lie here, but after I quit TEAM (my uplines KNEW my credit was maxed out yet they wanted me to stay and stay on system and keep on autoship – yea, like a freaking miracle gonna happen to me or something) – I literally had 2 creditor companies suggest that bankrupty could be a “route that I may want to consider”.

Lyk. when I left TEAM, I had nobody from TEAM still being my friend. I’ve even had a FB friend on TEAM cut me off because I was negative about it. That hurt. But this crazy system didn’t care about true friendships.

Do some research, mate. It’s for your own good.

I have been reading through this blog for a couple of days – good stuff!

I am wondering though, what thoughts people have on what needs to be done to reduce the number of MLM victims?

While blogs like this might provide more insight to potential victims, it seems they get buried by sites and blogs that “review” MLM companies and appear to have the undertones of the MLM companies themselves; it appears MLM’ers themselves are posting “independent” reviews. Are there FTC laws or regulations that could be changed to better protect consumers? The MLM structure itself is self destructive and really has no place in business but to prey on vulnerable people – I am wondering if people think that it should be illegal to operate businesses with an MLM structure?

That would explain why the Militello’s and Hawkin’s both were given groups that they did not earn and were being touted as the movin-on couples. You are right the tangled web of deceive is like straight out of a twisted thriller.

Even more dangerous, what will it be like to get to your death bed and have to FACE the truth? There is no justifing, excuses, or lying to yourself and others then; that you continued to perpetuate intentional damange on your self and others your entire life; to realize you sold your soul for a worthless piece of silver? It will be too late.

How dangerous, scary, and sad. Do they believe there are no consequences to their actions, because they seemingly have gotten away with this? Or do people like that think they have an Ace in the Hole, thinking they have plenty of time and they can continue all the way to their death bed? Lying and deceiving, thinking all they have to do is repent, (not really meaning their repentance) that they will be forgiven, and all will be good?

What if their lives end suddenly, with no time left?

Cindy – I think Amthrax posted an entry about the FTC a few months ago, I can’t remember the title but it’s about the a video put out by the FTC called “Operation Broken Promises”.

It’ll take a lot to take down an MLM business, though, unless the scams are totally obvious.

  22. August 29, 2011 1:23 pm

Found the video – Thanks! That’s too bad. It seems to me a lot like false advertising so it surprises me that they are able to get away with it. I was looking at the documentation for Send Out Cards and they claim that their potential market is now the population of the earth because they are expanding to other countries…. they actually show a map of the world with the world population…..totally absurd since half the worlds population lives on less than $3 a day and couldn’t give a rats behind about greeting cards and of those that don’t live on so little only about 30% of them have internet access. Yet they are telling people their market is 6 billion. If that’s not fraudulent, deceptive and predatory advertising I don’t know what is. Its so weird to me that these people are able to get away with the things they do.

    Cindy~

You ask the million dollar question… How to reduce the victims? There have been some good suggestion like complaints to the FTC, Attorney State Generals, many suggest lawsuits. I do know Amthrax and Juicescam are making a big difference and you could read posts that validate this. You could also pay attention to how angry some of the pro-mlm’ers and LIEf teamers are, that is a good indicator this site is making a difference. Until the perfect storm hits,( more like an act of God).

I believe the awareness plays a huge part in helping others and more and more are coming to help with that.

There a lot of websites now on the internet, like Amthrax, MLM Punisher, Juicescam, Lazyman, Joecool, Married to an Ambot, Corporate Fraud Watch, Sequence Inc., I have visit them and read quite a bit on them all…. and more, ( just can’t think of the names right now).

Also there is some about cults; freedom of mind, Rick Ross etc.. Most of them you can link to right from Amthrax site. It is very telling that they all are speaking about the MLM world and their abuses. How can all these people have some of the most common stories.. but then there are some or maybe a lot, who will choose to ignore their common sense! And yet others intentionally resist and deny the truth until they are blue in the face, and then some because they are trying to protect their precious idol…$$$

Then there is the FTC, that you are now aware of, there are some great articles on there.

This means there are a lot of people out there who are trying to get the whole truth and facts out, so that others can make better informed decisions on their own and not suffer the destruction that is inevitable for the more than, 99%.

When we were a part of the Team, we would never read sites like these because they indoctrinated, with NO NEGATIVE, they would bash them, call them the bathroom wall etc. We also never had the time because we were giving it all to our buisness (Orrin’s business), nor was their a specific website with a whole bunch of leaders from the Team speaking out.

I agree the average person used to be bogged down by the propaganda but the sites like Amthrax, JS, and others rank right up there with the others, organically I will add, and not by gaming the system!

If you can I would take the time to read the post on here; “MLM Punisher and the Cost of Living Intentional for Excellence.” you will read that it is hit the most when searching (maybe you have). You have already mentioned you have been reading this site for a couple of days.

Would you mind sharing how you found the site and why you came to read it?

But as Speak said, when we were fully in to the system, we would never have read a site like this. Many of the older blogs for other companies did not have the higher level former leaders that this one does.

I do think a class action lawsuit needs to be seriously considered as well as writing the BBB, FTC, and Attorney Generals. But I believe national news stations (60 Minutes, etc) and Forbes magazines should also be written to. Imagine if they received letters from each person reading this blog. Imagine the job they could do exposing Team/Life. Imagine the future prospects who would then be made aware of what they were looking at BEFORE the indoctrination could begin.

@Outcast, I’m not sure about now, but when we first signed up with monavie, they did give us a lot of wiggle room. Because not every one resigned from Q at the same time. Our upline (who was at one time a pc) had a direct number to someone at monavie. They would call and rearrange the groups when someone’s 6 months were up. You have to remember they were going from multiple groups to 2. Our leg received a team from our executive pc, of course are upline tried telling us they were not going to benefit from this group at all.

It was all shady, I asked my upline about how they were putting people in, she said they had nothing to do with it. It all came from the executive pc.

Maybe I can answer that for you. It is very simple; In the EBC (team website) everyone has their own line of sponsorship, just like MV, only in the team, Orrin Controls it and can change it anytime (or have whoever at the office, possibly Rob change it), unlike MV or Q/Amway where you can not change it.

Oh sorry, I thought the question was how does can it change with the Team profit-sharing?

    Free at last~

During the registration into MV, the PC’s had certain people register their groups or in our case outside legs, and the leaders in the taproots registered themselves. Our PC said they were working directly with MV attorneys. Whether that was true or just to make it sound legit remains to be seen.

The PC Controlled and I mean CONTROLLED like a Dictator with Orrin’s dictatorship/’direction’. Told certain (mis) leaders how to fix the game plan and for them to execute it! They thought they could get away with executing their plan of ranking people, and probably believe they did, but not the case. This is exactly WHY WE QUIT and since then thousands on our team! Then it was one greedy, stupid decision after another.

MV gave them an obvious 6 months to get the entire group in and make any final changes, but the problem was they never told anyone that! I believe they were doing things even MV didn’t know they were. They needed to rank themselves and were ORDERING others how to do so also (their favorites) or ones they thought would cross the line; and sure enough they crossed-the-line!

It was “GET THEM IN NOW!” but 6 months into the registration, the PC sends the message that all or any last changes need to be made by ____ whatever day it was. Really?

Many, many stories of the corruption during this process, and this is what will cause their demise and has caused their self destruction, because they got GREEDY!

I have to stop now before the choice words fly! I would sue them just for this!

Also, we knew we could NO LONGER, follow, edify, or wanted anything to do with the corrupt dirtbags, after this happened! So, knowing that we knew they destroyed our teams, and had influence, (because we built it, not them) they then looked for a reason to eliminate our profit-sharing, and low-n-behold, the dictators, that is exactly what they did. Stopped paying us that promised passive, residual, ongoing, willable, b-type business income!

The rest is pretty much history.

@Speak I figured orrin could probably do whatever he wanted with the TEAM part of it and the EBC. Since there is no regulation of the profit sharing and no one really even seems to know who gets what.I always thought it was pretty shady that we had to rely on someone else’s word to know if someone was on system or not. It had to come from our upline RT who we had never even met. They can pretty much tell anyone anything.

Outside looking in – Dorothy is correct. Dont’ have time right now to type a full explanation, but Team is not building based on the MV plan. Two years ago they started a new system of registering in which you give your personal to someone at the bottom of one of your PET’s. We’re not talking about the ‘placement’ in the binary. We are talking about the actual ‘sponsorship’.

Also, for those who asked, yes there were many games played during and after the 6 months with registration. The PC’s had their own contact person at MV. One phone call to this person and they could have the placement or sponsor of any person changed. They could also have the listed name of the distributorship changed as there were many people registered using the name of relatives to avoid detection in case Amway/Quixtar got ahold of the MonaVie distributor lists.

Many people were miraculously moved and repositioned within MV after their 6 months were up.

I don’t know how much MV actually knew as to the reason for this, but I know the PC’s and Orrin were actively involved in this.

[Editor’s Note: Read more discussion on what went on in the 6 months between Amway and MonaVie here.]

Speak Your Truth: I believe I did a search on MLM and Cults when I did the search – I was trying multiple search terms to get past all of the muck. The subject started to interest me when I commented on a FB conversation posted on a friends profile (a friend who is a serial MLM’r and for years has seemed to be brainwashed) about Send Out Cards. They were saying some odd things so I chimed in and asked some really simple questions. I had no intentions of offending anyone – I was very polite and just curious about the conclusions they were coming to. And holy cow! You would think I had just kicked their puppy and spit in their face!!! They got really sarcastic and weird…. the whole thing fascinated me so now I am thinking about doing my graduate school project on a topic that surrounds it…. don’t know for sure that I will – but I am exploring it.

I read through the terms of service agreement for send out cards… and they actually say that distributors are not to engage in conversations with people making negative comments.

I have been looking through some of the sites you mentioned – I will check out the ones I haven’t seen. One that I found to be really good was http://www.mlm-thetruth.com/ … looks like that guy has done a lot of really interesting research.

I checked out the R3G event tour schedule for shits and giggles and who was NOT listed on it was the Harts or the Merritts, 😮 just the Rouches, Dallen, some corporate folks and a few newbies I did not know from when I was in it.

Nothing wrong with SOC’s product’s, BTW, just the MLM hype that is part of the game.

Would it be interesting if Orrin inherited or purchased R3global…..just a thought. 🙂

    Izzy~ lol

If it is true, I would be more inclined to think Dallin would have bought his business, he stands to gain a lot of money, but who knows? I read it went for 20-25 million, and if that is true, I doubt, Orrin could afford it. I read where people were saying, Brig is smart and it is just business on his part but anyone who has spent time in that world knows better; if people start selling their businesses it would be more than just ‘business’. It is pretty obvious to me at least, that Brig and Orrin are the furthest thing from being buddies. Even though everyone is suppose to be 1 big happy MV family….on the surface 🙂

Burned Out – You need to check the site again. The Hart’s and Merritt’s and both doing Regional BBS on October 1st and November 5th. I don’t care either way if the rumors are true or not, but I do want to make sure accurate information is being given. Not only this, but Steve Merritt also participated in a R3Global conference call this past Sunday Sept 4. I’m curious, what has lead you to believe R3G is “coming apart at the seams”?

Steve Merritt is still VERY active. He took his Diamonds on a special cruise during Diamond Club last month and has been out doing meetings in the past few weeks.

What if the corporation has bought r3 so that Brig will consolidate his tool company with Orrin’s? That would be interesting. Just a thought. Although it didn’t seem Brig liked Orrin much, but I could be wrong.

I stand corrected as the number 1 and number 2 are doing a meeting a month and everything is just ducky at R3G since it has been rumored to be sold and the high end toy’s are for sale on the internet, anybody connect the dots that this has happened recently since TEAM started stealing the spotlight from R3G?

As for “acurate information” and MLM, how would an open meeting start out? “Hi, I’m a network ringer who got kicked out of my last MLM after a nasty lawsuit and here is my pal a retired world champion of a sport nobody has really heard about who could not get a real job. We are 2 out of several million who got into this and we actually make profit, mostly off the dated promotional crap you buy at meetings like this. PRAISE THE LORD and WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
