MonaVie Issues Memo Regarding Line Switching and Cross Sponsoring

November 12, 2011

MonaVie corporate recently released an email to all1 distributors regarding line switching and cross sponsoring. Could this mean some distributors have been re-arranging their downline trees in order for them (or select distributors) to qualify for bonuses that they ordinarily would not qualify for?

I would be interested in learning which distributors get penalized by MonaVie’s purported zero tolerance policy. Would Black Diamonds get the same treatment as a low-level distributor?

Here’s the full email, along with links to MonaVie’s policies:

Reinforcement of Policies Governing Line Switching and Cross Sponsoring

Dear Valued MonaVie Distributor,

From time to time, it becomes necessary for us to bring to the attention of all MonaVie distributors certain policies and procedures that are fundamental to the integrity and longevity of our business. Protecting the integrity of the distributor tree and the benefits you derive from your position in the tree must be one of our collective and highest priorities. Therefore, we are emailing you to re-emphasize our firm commitment to two policies that will help ensure such protection.

Clarifying Compliance Briefs

Below are links to two newly drafted MonaVie Compliance Briefs that will provide clarity to the topics of Line Switching and Cross Sponsoring.

Line Switching Compliance Brief.
Cross Sponsoring Compliance Brief.

As clearly articulated in MonaVie’s Global Policies and Procedures, MonaVie distributors are allowed to have only one distributor account or tree position. In the event a distributor becomes unsatisfied—for whatever reason—with their position in the tree, they may elect to terminate their account and “sit out” for a period of six months before re-enrolling in a new position and under a new sponsor of their choosing.

To circumvent such provisions by creating an additional or alternate account is a serious breach of policy and clearly undermines the integrity of the tree. In addition, any distributor sponsor who entices distributors to line-switch, by abandoning their original positions (known as “first in time” accounts) and creating secondary, unapproved positions (otherwise known as “second in time” accounts), is engaging in a practice known as “cross sponsoring,” which is a serious breach of policy and will be subject to appropriate discipline.

We Will Protect Your Investment

MonaVie would have every distributor know that in order to protect the reputation and good name of the company, we intend to send a reassuring message to all prospective distributors that we will protect your investment and the benefits you derive from your place in the tree.

We will enforce a zero tolerance policy for violations. Those who have violated these policies will be required to return to and work their “first in time” position. The “second in time” position will be terminated. Repeat violations will result in automatic termination of one’s distributorship.

We encourage you to become familiar with these two policies by quickly reviewing the two very brief documents included with this communication. We are confident they will clarify any misunderstanding you may have of these important policies, which are designed to protect a distributor’s business. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your local compliance support personnel, or contact the MonaVie Compliance department by sending an email to

MonaVie Is Built on Key Ethical Principles

Finally, we remind all that this business is grounded in the principle of duplication. We expect those we mentor and teach to follow our lead to replicate what we teach and what we do. Let’s all ensure we are expecting duplication of honorable principles and values. To our MonaVie distributor leaders, let’s advocate complete adherence to our protective policies and procedures.

We are honored to be partners with you and seek to create every equitable opportunity for your success. The very foundation of this company has been built upon the principles of honesty, integrity, mutual respect, and hard work. Truly, we want you to genuinely feel and say that MonaVie is not necessarily the best company in the world but the best company for the world!

Help us to further strengthen and achieve this ideal and to help others come to experience a more meaningful life through MonaVie by making these policies, values, and principles visible in every element of our business—and more importantly, in every element of our lives.

Let us each with pride say, “I am MonaVie,” and mean it!

Dallin A. Larsen
MonaVie Founder, Chairman, and CEO

Would Orrin Woodward stand on stage and exclaim, “I am MonaVie”? Somehow, I think he’ll say instead, “I am LIFE!”

Ex-TEAM, Ex-MonaVie or current MonaVie distributors: do you have specific instances in which a distributor has or had 2 separate distributorships. One in a second (profit) leg, and later another one afterwards (in the case of ex-TEAM members, after you had left TEAM)? Leave your thoughts in the comment section below.

1 Update November 16, 2011: It’s come to my attention that not all distributors received this email. I have corrected the original article with this clarification.

Is TEAM doing a lot of line-switching in MV? I’m curious about that one.

This is exactly what happened to us. Doug Stroh & Chris Miller moved my second team people over into the taproot. I contacted MV….no responds.

What crap!!! MonaVie didn’t care one bit when our entire business was stolen and moved on us. Before our highly ethical and full of integrity (NOT) upline took both our teams, some of the people we personally sponsored would all of a sudden change to someone else. HMMMM. Same person would end up being their sponsor. It would take us months to get them back to appear that we were indeed their personal sponsor. Mind you we never received the bonus or any of the so-called residual income from them in the mean time. Nor was it ever paid back to us.

This was a common practice in TEAM and MonaVie knew. They could go in or make a phone call and just like that someone was moved or a sponsor was changed. I never had control of my team only my upline did. If MonaVie truly cared it was a huge light bulb when many, many people would be moved overnight. DUH! What did they think was going on. Or lets just say maybe they didn’t care at the time and would like to cover their butt now.

For MonaVie to have to re-announce their rules it seems to me this is still an all too common practice for Team elite. How else could it look like there was growth in a fallen industry.

And for any “naysayers” and “nose pickers” “YES it did happen and it will happen to you too!”

As usual, a company says one thing to look good in public, and practices another behind closed doors. Can’t wait to see what Michael Collins has to say about this. What a joke!

I think we need to bring another class action suit against MV for these above mentioned practices. I have 2 1/2 yrs of back residual income coming MV.

I agree with you all.. nailed it and wounded bear..I am with you totally!
This is an extreme hot button. I would have to say; First of all there is no doubt MV is reading this site..Second we ARE making a difference and Third, it is.. too damn late for their memo on ‘bringing their policies to the attention’ of anyone. We already know people were breaching their P&P..for years now, and they didn’t give to rats arses about it then. Why now? More lawsuits in the lurking?

So, good luck to them if they think for second anyone believes they built their business on integrity and honesty….that is flat out BS. They were warned of this bullsh*t 3 years ago, and they Chose to do NOTHING….so I would say it is far too late to try and back peddle and save the ‘reputation and good name.’ I would say a day late and dollar short…but we all know that is why they have turned a blind eye…was because of the dollars…millions of them.

Interesting they come up with a zero tolerance for violations.. NOW, to try and protect their already tarnished image, and deliberate allowance before… after people’s entire groups were decimated, stolen, lost and destroyed! Protecting the distributors tree, honorable…you got to be freaking kidding? What a flippin joke!

They should have heeded the warnings (but didn’t) and DID something about it a long time ago and now they think this will save their reputation? Not a chance.

MV says: “Finally, we remind all that this business is grounded in the principle of duplication.”

REALLY? Duplication?….Are they counting the ‘special deals’; that no one but a few at the TOP get…explain how your grounded principles are of duplication!! What a farce. Is all those groups that came from other MLM’s…Duplicatable?

Multiple positions, incentive positions, break insertions, shuffling of teams, massive cash deals, etc. etc. These are all indicative of a binary, binaries are simply not sustainable long term.

Yes..Brent that even is more glaring of the motive and truth. And MV doesn’t know this that they are not sustainable long term? And if they do know this (ha), then why would they spread to the entire masses, they have created a company that will last long term, say they care so deeply about the distributors because they know that is who have created the billions for them and it is MV for life.

Their principles and P&P’s are designed for longevity?

    This would be a oxymoron!

Anybody remember the deal with the success magazine? Remember Orrin and others talking it up,,,saying that the TEAM would have 8 pages in the success mag…IT WILL CHANGE LIVES, JUST THINK OF ALL THE PEOPLE BUYING IT OFF THE NEWS STANDS. This was a complete bold faced LIE…they knew it would only come to team people. This may have been better on another section of this blog…but we were talking about lies and I just thought about this one.

And Wounded Bear…They ‘Bought’ and paid for that illusion and hyped up BS, out of the profit-sharing to turn around and feed that hyped up bs to the masses, like no one figured that out and the worst part of ALL, they charged everyone for them!!!.. Oh the Greed is blinding for them..They really are not that smart are

You think he said the same thing about Royal Tongan Limu?

    My guess is, yes.

  13. November 14, 2011 3:13 pm

This is really quite funny considering MonaVie is currently attempting a sales force raid on Amway in India prior to their launch, with all the same BS rumours about Amway getting spread (they’re opening stores and cutting out the distributors!)

Even more hilarious that MonaVie sued Xowii for doing the same thing to them ….

OMG they just NOTICED and WROTE A LETTER that there is Line switching and Cross sponsoring going on, will wonders never cease, 🙂

I totally agree, there must be a lawsuit about to drop on them to SAY they enforce the P & P, either that or Dallin crawled out from under the rock he has been under for the last 7 years.

  16. November 15, 2011 12:11 pm

FYI – I’m not sure all distributors received this letter. It might have been sent only to a subset of distributors.

A crime is a crime…wether or not the statue of limitations runs out. My business leg (10%) profit was stolen by “leaders” of TEAM. Mona Vie accomodated the “leaders” to this end.
