Former Herbalife Distributors Speak Out (Video)

May 12, 2014

Check out this video from former Herbalife distributors on the Facts About Herbalife website. The stories of how these people were prospected, how much money they spent, the mental hoops they went through to stay in, and how they ultimately got out are eerily similar to those from other multi-level marketing (MLM) companies. One could substitute Herbalife with any number of companies described in this blog and other blogs critical of MLMs, and the stories would not substantially change.

I wonder what MLM proponents think when they read the news reports that the government has shut down scams such as TelexFree, Zeek Rewards, FHTM, and IAB. Do they think these companies are outliers in their industry? Do they truly believe that the same thing couldn’t possibly be happening (or never happened) at the company they are aligned with?

Similarly, what do MLM proponents think when they see the plan from another MLM? Do they notice that the description of the opportunity — and the rewards that potentially come with joining up — are pretty much the same?

I would like to see the authorities finally make some clear definitions on what constitutes a retail sale and not allow these companies to skate by on technicalities. It’s clear that Herbalife has many victims so a slap on the wrist and some fines don’t make up for the billions of dollars that their victims have lost. I would like to see the FTC take a hard stance and shut down scam operations but I somehow think Herbalife will make some concessions and continue to run.

One of the major points is whether they actually sell products to actual customers. Herbalife says they do but have produced no evidence. That might be a key point in determining their legitimacy.

Caught by undercover camera’s.,,,, After 3 decades of business, prompts some “changes” and the Top is appalled to hear these deliberate violations?….Riiight….it’s “appalling alright” especially because the Top ARE the “trainers” & root problem……sound familiar?

Nothing more “appalling” than those who pretend and claim ignorance and then are the ones who are appalled?!

    I agree!

The way to fix the real root problem is to come down hard, with some stiff prison sentences….hold the companies and Top.. responsible… rather than just the slap on the wrist and a few hundred thousand dollars or even a couple of million dollar fines…. that does nothing to fix the real issues.

They just get more attorneys and lobbyers whom they pay… to find more loop holes to continue “business as usual”… and the “fines”…are a pittance & pocket change in comparison to the decades of cashing in and getting away with the BILLIONS of dollars!

One of the many key points that the guy points out (from above website link)… Finally sunk in and became a butt kicker for me…but took me years after I got out to actually SEE or stop and think about it!..Was the unfair competition…or “territory rights”…that I never recognized were not protected, never even thought about it, can you say brainwashed!… I haven’t seen where ANY MLM protects your territories rights… as a matter a fact you are in “competition” with your own DOWNLINE, UPLINE, and CROSSLINE!!

It is NOT like “franchising”. or any other “sales company”…that point alone SHOULD wake people out of their stupor!
